Winter Session of Parliament to Witness Introduction of 18 Bills
In the upcoming Winter Session of Parliament, starting December 4, the government is set to introduce 18 bills. This session, lasting until December 22, includes significant legislative proposals such as the extension of women’s reservation provisions to Jammu and Kashmir and Puducherry, and three bills to replace the existing criminal laws.
Enhancing Representation in Jammu and Kashmir Assembly
One of the noteworthy bills aims to increase the strength of the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly from 107 to 114 members. This move is intended to provide representation to specific groups, including Kashmiri migrants, displaced persons from Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir, and Scheduled Tribes.
Financial Discussions on the Agenda
In addition to these bills, the government has also scheduled the presentation, discussion, and voting on the first batch of supplementary demands for grants for the fiscal year 2023-24. This part of the session will focus on the financial aspects and budgetary allocations for various initiatives and programs.
The Winter Session of Parliament is poised to address a range of critical issues through these bills, reflecting the government’s focus on legislative reforms and governance priorities.
