Winter Connectivity Improved with Helicopter Services in Gurez and Tulail
Officials announced on Monday the commencement of helicopter services for the residents of Gurez and Tulail in the northern Kashmir district of Bandipora. The primary objective of this initiative is to establish seamless connectivity with the border areas, particularly during the challenging winter season.
The introduction of helicopter services in these regions marks a positive development for travelers. In the harsh winter months, when accessibility becomes a significant challenge, this service is expected to enhance commuting convenience. The officials believe that besides addressing the immediate travel needs of the residents, this initiative has the potential to boost tourism opportunities during the winter season.
Various stations have been set up, connecting key locations such as Srinagar to Gurez, Gurez to Bandipora, Bandipora to Kanzalwan, Bandipora to Badugam, and Bandipora to Baduaab. This network is designed to cater to individuals in need and facilitate the urgent evacuation of patients requiring medical care.
Officials emphasize that the helicopter service will offer relief to individuals facing difficulties during inclement winter weather. The district administration is committed to sustaining these services even in the face of heavy snowfall, ensuring that people, especially those in medical emergencies, do not endure unnecessary suffering. Given the limited medical facilities in these remote areas, the initiative aims to mitigate significant hardships, particularly during the winter season.
While there have been no major snowfall incidents in these regions as of yet, officials assure that the administration is fully prepared to handle any such situations that may arise. Notably, the border areas of Kashmir, including Gurez, Tulail, and Karnah Tangdhar, often remain cut off from the rest of the world for several months due to heavy snowfall.
In a parallel development, officials from the Kupwara Administration have announced plans to launch a helicopter service to its border area soon. This move is intended to ensure accessibility for residents during the winter months, aligning with the broader goal of providing essential services even in challenging weather conditions.
