VP Dhankhar Commends Unanimous Repeal of Article 370 at Biotech Startup Expo in Kathua, J-k
Addressing a gathering at the inauguration of a biotech startup expo in Kathua, Jammu and Kashmir, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar declared that all three branches of the government had unanimously revoked the special status of Jammu and Kashmir under Article 370 of the Constitution. He emphasized that this historic decision fulfilled the vision of Jana Sangh founder Syama Prasad Mookerjee.
Vice President Dhankhar extended congratulations to the executive, led by the prime minister, the legislative bodies (Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha), and the judiciary for their unanimous efforts in eliminating Article 370 from the Constitution. He highlighted the significance of this action, stating that it marked the complete realization of Syama Prasad Mookerjee’s long-held dream.
In his address, Dhankhar acknowledged the lasting impact of Mookerjee on the region, describing the land as bearing the imprints of the visionary leader. He noted that the removal of Article 370 was a pivotal moment for the area facing imminent danger, and the collective decision to abolish the article was unforeseen, considering its initially temporary nature in the Constitution.
The Vice President commended the Union Science and Technology Minister Jitendra Singh for attending the function, which aimed to promote the development of the district along the International Border with Pakistan as a hub for emerging entrepreneurs. The biotech startup expo, titled “Emerging Startup Trends in North India,” featured the participation of 25 startups, including 11 from Jammu and Kashmir.
