The Indian Railways is inviting applications to fill the position of Assistant Loco Pilot (ALP), as announced by the Railway Recruitment Board. The deadline for submitting online applications is set for February 19, 2024.

A total of 5696 vacancies are available for this position, with the Jammu-Srinagar railway board having 39 openings. The recruitment process comprises several stages, including the First Stage Computer-Based Test (CBT-1), Second Stage Computer-Based Test (CBT-2), Computer-Based Aptitude Test (CBAT), Document Verification (DV), and Medical Examination (ME). The application fee is Rs 500, with a Rs 400 refund upon appearing in the First Stage CBT. For candidates belonging to SC, ST, economically backward class, ex-servicemen, females, and trans-genders, the examination fee is Rs 250, refundable upon appearing in the first stage CBT. The deadline for modifying submitted information is until February 29, 2024.

To be eligible for the ALP position, applicants must have completed their 10th class education and possess an ITI Diploma from a recognized institute affiliated with NCVT/SCVT. Eligible trades for ITI include Fitter, Electrician, Instrument Mechanic, Millwright/Maintenance Mechanic, Mechanic (Radio/TV), Electronics Mechanic, Mechanic (Motor Vehicle), Wireman, Tractor Mechanic, Armature and Coil Winder, Mechanical (Diesel), Heat Engine, Turner, Machinist, and Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic.

Candidates should be between 18 and 30 years old, with special age relaxation for certain categories. Eligible candidates must be citizens of India, Nepal, Bhutan, Tibetan refugees, or persons of Indian origin who have migrated from specific countries with the intention of permanently settling in India.

The basic salary for an RRB Assistant Loco Pilot is Rs 19,900, falling under Level 2 of the 7th Central Pay Commission (CPC) pay scale. ALPs are entitled to various allowances and benefits, including Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), Transport Allowance, Night Duty Allowance, among others, as per government norms. The total monthly salary for ALPs ranges between Rs 25,000 to Rs 35,000.
