In a significant diplomatic engagement, US President Joe Biden engaged in “substantial discussions” with Prime Minister Narendra Modi to enhance the Indo-US partnership. President Biden expressed gratitude to PM Modi for his leadership and for hosting the G20 Summit in New Delhi. During their wide-ranging talks, they pledged to further deepen and diversify the bilateral major defense partnership, showcasing India’s procurement of 31 drones and joint development of jet engines.

President Biden, making his first official visit to India as the US President, praised Prime Minister Modi for his leadership and the warm hospitality extended during his stay. Biden recognized the potential of the corridor connecting India to Europe, the Middle East, and Israel, stating that it could open up transformative economic investment opportunities. The leaders also discussed the “illegal war in Ukraine” during the summit and expressed consensus on the importance of achieving a just and lasting peace in the region.
Building Stability in Asia and China Relations
Responding to questions about his foreign policy objectives, President Biden emphasized the goal of providing stability globally by strengthening America’s ties with Asian countries, including Vietnam. He clarified that his approach is not aimed at starting a “cold war” with China but rather focused on establishing a stable foundation. Biden highlighted the importance of building stability and avoiding confrontational approaches with China.

President Biden shared that he had a positive meeting with Chinese Premier Li Qiang on the sidelines of the G20 Summit in Delhi. They discussed stability and cooperation rather than confrontation. Biden emphasized the non-confrontational nature of their discussions.
