Union Ministers Resume Talks with Farmers in Chandigarh

A panel of Union ministers, including Agriculture Minister Arjun Munda and Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal, arrives in Chandigarh for the fourth round of discussions with protesting farmers. The dialogue focuses on addressing farmers’ demands, including a legal guarantee for Minimum Support Price (MSP).

Ongoing Efforts to Resolve Key Agricultural Issues

Previous rounds of talks on February 8, 12, and 15 did not lead to a resolution. The government is engaged in negotiations with farmer leaders, such as Jagjit Singh Dallewal and Sarwan Singh Pandher, to find common ground on issues like loan waiver, Swaminathan Commission’s recommendations, pension, and withdrawal of police cases.

Seeking Solutions for Agricultural Sector Concerns

The meeting takes place at the Mahatma Gandhi State Institute of Public Administration in Sector 26, Chandigarh, reflecting continued efforts to address critical concerns in the agricultural sector and establish a framework for sustainable solutions.
