UN Security Council Expresses Deep Concern Over Gaza Aid Convoy Incident
The UN Security Council (UNSC) has issued a joint statement expressing “deep concern” over the loss of over 100 lives in an incident involving Israeli forces at a humanitarian assistance convoy near Gaza City.
The statement urges all parties to refrain from depriving the civilian population in Gaza of basic services and humanitarian aid.
While not assigning blame for gunfire injuries, the council emphasizes the need for Israel to keep border crossings open for aid delivery and support the rapid and safe distribution of relief items in Gaza.
This statement follows the previous blocking of a statement by the US that would have assigned blame to Israel for the incident.
