Deadly Collision in Bharatpur District
In a tragic incident, 11 individuals from Gujarat lost their lives, and at least 15 others sustained injuries when a trailer collided with their bus in Rajasthan’s Bharatpur district. The accident occurred early in the morning around 4:30 am when the bus, en route from Gujarat to Mathura in Uttar Pradesh, was hit from behind by the trailer.
Immediate Response from Prime Minister Modi
Upon learning of the tragic accident, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his condolences to the families of the victims and approved ex-gratia compensation. He authorized Rs 2 lakh to be provided to the next of kin of the deceased and Rs 50,000 to the injured survivors.
Details of the Accident
According to the police, the bus had stopped at the Antra flyover in the Lakhanpur area when the trailer collided with it from behind. The impact of the collision resulted in the immediate loss of five men and six women, all of whom hailed from Dihor in Gujarat’s Bhavnagar district.
This unfortunate incident serves as a reminder of the importance of road safety and the need for heightened awareness and caution while traveling, especially during early morning hours.
