Tragic Accident in Handwara: Two Girls Dead, Two Injured After Car Plunges into Gorge

Srinagar, Aug 05: A tragic accident occurred on the Handwara-Bangus road, resulting in the death of two young girls from Srinagar and injuries to two others.

The incident took place when a private car, carrying four passengers, lost control and plunged into a deep gorge.

According to reports from news agency KNC, the car overturned and fell into the gorge, leading to immediate fatalities and injuries. Saba Shafi, the daughter of Mohammad Shafi Baba from Pantha Chowk Srinagar, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The remaining three passengers were initially taken to NTPHC Qalamabad for treatment. Subsequently, they were referred to GMC Handwara for advanced care.

Despite medical efforts, another girl identified as Aleeza succumbed to her injuries at the hospital.

The two surviving individuals were transferred to a Srinagar hospital for further treatment. One of the injured is reported to be in a critical condition.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the accident, and the affected families are mourning the tragic loss of their loved ones.
