Traffic Police Seizes Overloaded Minibus, Driver Arrested for Endangering Lives
In the relentless campaign against passenger vehicle overloading, the Traffic Police National Highway, under the supervision of SSP National Highway Rohit Baskotra, took decisive action by confiscating a minibus and apprehending its driver for jeopardizing human lives through overloading.
According to a spokesperson from the Traffic Police National Highway, a team led by ASI Mushtaq Ahmed, conducting routine checks on Patnitop Road, intercepted a minibus with registration number JK21D-4329 en route from Udhampur to Chenani.
Upon inspecting the minibus, it was discovered that 52 passengers were seated in it, surpassing the designated capacity of 24. Consequently, a case (FIR 12/2024 US 279/336 IPC) was registered at the Police Station Chenani, citing the endangerment of human lives due to overloading.
The vehicle was promptly seized at the scene, and the driver, identified as Manipal Singh, son of Baldev Singh, was taken into custody, the spokesperson added.
