Three Drug peddlers Apprehended in Pulwama and Sopore Under PIT NDPS Act
February 04: In the ongoing endeavor to eliminate the scourge of drugs from society, law enforcement authorities have taken decisive action by apprehending three notorious drug peddlers under the Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (PIT NDPS Act) in Pulwama and Sopore. This move follows the issuance of formal detention orders from the competent authority.
In Pulwama, two identified drug peddlers, Imtiyaz Ahmad Ganie (son of Late Wali Mohd Ganie, resident of Chatapora) and Javaid Ahmad Ganai (son of Mohd Shaban Ganai, resident of Loolipora Nehama), have been charged under the PIT NDPS Act. The formal detention orders were obtained based on their involvement in multiple NDPS cases and their promotion of drug addiction by supplying drugs to local youth in District Pulwama.
Similarly, in Sopore, the Police have taken action against Mohammad Ashraf Ganie (son of Ghulam Rasool Ganie, resident of Reban Sopore) by booking him under the PIT NDPS Act. He has been formally detained, and subsequently, lodged in Central Jail Kot Bhalwal Jammu. Notably, this individual has faced numerous legal actions and has persistently engaged in promoting drug trade by supplying drugs to youth in various areas of Police District Sopore.
Despite facing legal consequences, these individuals have failed to mend their ways, continuing to contribute to the drug trade and negatively impacting local youth. The public has lauded the Police for their proactive stance against these drug peddlers. The consistent efforts of law enforcement provide assurance to the community that the J&K Police is dedicated to maintaining a drug-free society through decisive actions against drug abuse.
