Three Arrested in Meerut with Fake Indian Currency Worth Over Rs 2 Lakh
The Special Task Force (STF) of the Uttar Pradesh Police has made a significant arrest in Meerut, apprehending three individuals involved in the circulation of counterfeit Indian currency notes. The arrest was carried out by the Noida unit of STF in the Hanuman Vihar area, located under the jurisdiction of the Medical police station in Meerut district, around 2:35 pm. The police confiscated fake currency notes with a total face value exceeding Rs 2 lakh, along with equipment and materials used in their production.
The STF had been receiving intelligence about a gang engaged in the production and distribution of counterfeit currency over the past few months. Acting on credible information, the STF conducted a raid, resulting in the apprehension of three individuals.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Pappu Tulhedi, Deshpal Singh, and Rishi Kumar. According to Additional Superintendent of Police (UP STF) Raj Kumar Mishra, the trio had been involved in the illicit production of Indian currency notes and their distribution for approximately six months, earning a commission of 35 percent. The fake currency was being circulated in the Delhi-NCR region.
Preliminary investigations have revealed that the main accused, Pappu Tulhedi, has a history of 15 criminal cases registered against him at various police stations in Meerut district. Deshpal Singh, another member of the group, has four cases against him, including an attempted murder case, in Meerut and Muzaffarnagar districts.
The local police station in Meerut is now handling the legal proceedings related to the case.
