    A horrifying incident unfolded today near Palma on the Rajouri-Budhal road, resulting in three passengers losing their lives and 16 others sustaining injuries. The mishap occurred around 11 am when an overloaded Tempo-Traveler, bearing registration number JK02AB-5535, was en route from Budhal to Rajouri. Witnesses on the scene reported that the vehicle was speeding recklessly, and the driver struggled to negotiate a sharp curve at Buddi Morh near Palma, leading to the tragic accident where the vehicle plunged nearly 300 feet into a gorge.

    Swift Response and Rescue Operation Ensues

    Immediately after the accident, a joint rescue operation was launched by local authorities and the community. Nineteen people were evacuated from the accident site and rushed to the Government Medical College (GMC) Associated Hospital in Rajouri, where the medical staff tragically declared three of them deceased. The deceased individuals were identified as Abdul Rashid, Mohd Shabir, and Mohd Azam, with five other injured passengers, including a four-year-old girl, in critical condition.

    Condolences and Support from the Lieutenant Governor

    Expressing his condolences, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha conveyed his deep shock over the tragic road accident in Rajouri. He offered his heartfelt sympathies to the families of the victims and wished a swift recovery to those injured. The Lieutenant Governor instructed the district administration to provide all necessary assistance to those affected by the accident.

    Legal Actions Underway as Investigations Commence

    The police have registered a case under FIR number 512/23, invoking sections 279/337/304-A of the Indian Penal Code, and initiated investigations into the accident. It was revealed that the Tempo driver had recently returned from Kuwait, where he had been working for several years. Unfortunately, he sustained leg fractures in the accident.The injured individuals, all hailing from various areas, include Jagdev Singh, Kirna Devi, Jajant Singh, Naseem Akhter, Abdul Shahid, Saika Kousar, Imtiaz Ahmed, Mahsooma Begum, Mohd Altaf, Mohd Younis, Vinod Kumar, Hamida Begum, and more. Seven of the seriously injured were later referred to GMC Jammu for advanced medical treatment.
