In a concerted effort towards child welfare and health, the Swasth Balak Balika Sarpadha was organized at the PO ICDS office in Kishtwar.
The event saw the presence of esteemed dignitaries, including Dr Rishi Kumar Sharma (PO-ICDS), Dr M Y Mir, Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Kishtwar, Dr Yudhveer Singh Kotwal (Medical Superintendent, District Hospital Kishtwar), CDPOs, MO RBSK, Supervisors, Anganwari Workers (AWW), and the mothers of Anganwari-going children, all actively participating in the program.

The event included a quantitative estimation of hemoglobin levels for all child beneficiaries, coupled with growth monitoring activities involving height and weight measurements.
Under the flagship initiative of Swasth Balak Balika Spradha, children from Anganwadi projects across District Kishtwar showcased their health prowess. Boys and girls, actively engaged in Anganwadi activities, participated with zeal, representing various ICDS Projects.
A distinguished jury evaluated the health parameters of these young participants, and awards were conferred in the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd categories based on their health achievements.Kits and refreshments were also distributed among the participants on the occasion.
The event not only celebrated the health and well-being of the participants but also underscored the importance of Swasth Balak Balika Spradha in promoting a culture of health awareness and vitality among the younger generation.
During his address, CMO Kishtwar shed light on nutritional deficiencies among children, emphasizing health interventions, immunization programs for pregnant mothers and newborns. He provided crucial counseling to participating mothers regarding their diet and the importance of a healthy lifestyle.
Dr M Y Mir underscored the importance of nutritional monitoring at different stages of growth for both mothers and babies.
PO ICDS also addressed the gathering, highlighting a range of women and children-oriented activities conducted at Anganwadi Centres. Additionally, information about various schemes available for beneficiaries at their doorsteps was shared, emphasizing the commitment to women and children’s holistic well-being.
The Swasth Balak Balika Sarpadha served as a platform to strengthen community health awareness and foster a culture of holistic care for the well-being of children and mothers.
