In preparation for the 2024 Assembly Election, Kishtwar witnessed an energetic launch of the Systematic Voter’s Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) Program. On September 4, 2024, over 1,500 participants, including Anganwadi Workers (AWWs), ASHAs, students from local schools and colleges, and NCC cadets, gathered at Chowgan Ground, Kishtwar.
This event aimed to amplify electoral awareness across the district, led by the District Election Officer (DEO) Kishtwar, Rajesh Kumar Shavan (JKAS).
The event, part of the broader SVEEP campaign, emphasized the importance of ethical voting. Notable dignitaries, including the Deputy Commissioner and DEO Kishtwar, Rajesh Kumar Shavan, and Senior Superintendent of Police Abdul Qayoom (JKPS), graced the occasion.
The event also saw participation from District Nodal Officer SVEEP Dr. Kuldeep Kumar, Nodal Officer Training Shri Riyaz Ahmed Butt, and Nodal Officer SVEEP 49-Kishtwar Assembly Constituency Masood Qazi, along with various school principals.
The day commenced with a symbolic Chinar tree planting by DEO and SSP Kishtwar, representing growth and environmental stewardship. Following the plantation drive, all participants took a Voters Pledge, reinforcing their commitment to ethical voting.
In his speech, DEO/DC Kishtwar urged the participants to act as ambassadors of electoral awareness. He emphasized the importance of their roles in motivating the community to vote with integrity and responsibility. He called for maximum voter turnout on September 18, 2024, the designated polling day for the district.
The event concluded with a cleanliness drive and participants capturing selfies at designated points to celebrate the spirit of voting rights and ethical participation in democracy.
