Surprise Inspection at Shopian District Hospital; 181 Employees found absent | Explanation Sought

More than 90 percent of employees were found absent from their duties, during an surprise inspection at Shopian District Hospital. As reports surfaced, a surprise inspection was conducted by Additional Deputy Commissioner Shopian on the directions of worthy Deputy Commissioner, at around 10:00 am, and only 17 staffers were found absent, while 181 were absent, raising the major concern on the healthcare sector.

These employees include doctors, paramedical staff, medical officers and ministerial staff, as per biometric attendance report, provided by the Medical Superintendent, Hospital.

Such a heavy, absenteeism, raise the concern on the hospital management, and Healthcare sector. Soon after the inspection, an order was issued by Deputy Commissioner, stated the employees who were absent, are asked to file replies with comments, views, recommendations of Medical superintendent within three days, regarding why the action should not be taken against them.

In the case of non-compliance, it would be treated as “nothing to defend” and action would be taken.

Earlier, Tuesday, a circular was issued by Deputy Commissioner Shopian, amid unauthorised absense, one day salary of the alleging employees would be dedicated and credit to District Red Cross Society.
