Suraj Panwar Secures Paris 2024 Olympics Qualification in 20km Race Walk
Indian race walker Suraj Panwar achieved the qualification mark for the Paris 2024 Olympics in the men’s 20km race walk at the Indian Open Race Walking Competition 2024 in Chandigarh. The 23-year-old athlete clocked an impressive time of 1:19:43, securing a silver medal and meeting the Olympic qualification standard set at 1:20:10.

Suraj Panwar becomes the fourth Indian athlete to meet the entry standard for the Paris 2024 Olympics in the men’s 20km race walk. His remarkable performance adds depth to India’s representation in the prestigious event. National Record Holder Akshdeep Singh’s Feat
At the same competition last year, Akshdeep Singh not only set a new national record with a timing of 1:19:37 but also met the Paris qualification time. The strong presence of Indian athletes, including Vikas Singh and Paramjeet Bisht, showcases the country’s prowess in the men’s 20km race walk.
Women’s Event Highlights
In the women’s event, Manju Rani secured the gold medal with a personal best timing of 1:34:16. Payal claimed silver (1:34:45), and Munita Prajapati clinched bronze (1:35:36). These talented athletes, including national record holder Priyanka Goswami, exemplify India’s strength in the women’s 20km race walk, with Goswami meeting the Paris Olympics qualification time last year.
