Supreme Court Defers Hearing on Shiv Sena Faction Dispute to January 22
The Supreme Court has postponed the hearing on a plea by the Uddhav Thackeray faction of Shiv Sena against the Maharashtra Assembly Speaker’s order, declaring the Sena bloc led by CM Eknath Shinde as the “real political party” after a split in June 2022. The Thackeray faction filed the plea challenging the speaker’s decision on January 10, and the hearing is now scheduled for January 22. The speaker had rejected the Thackeray faction’s request to disqualify 16 MLAs from the ruling camp, including Shinde.
