Supreme Court Collegium Recommends Transfer of Three High Court Judges
The Supreme Court Collegium, led by Chief Justice D Y Chandrachud, has recommended the transfer of three high court judges based on their requests. The decisions were made during a meeting held on Tuesday:
- Justice Moushumi Bhattacharya: The collegium accepted the transfer request of Calcutta High Court Judge Justice Moushumi Bhattacharya. She sought a transfer to any other high court for personal reasons. The collegium recommended her transfer to the High Court for the State of Telangana.
- Justice Anu Sivaraman: Justice Anu Sivaraman, who sought a transfer out of the State of Kerala, had her request accepted. The collegium recommended her transfer to the Karnataka High Court.
- Justice Sujoy Paul: Justice Sujoy Paul’s transfer request, citing his son’s practice in the High Court of Madhya Pradesh, was also accepted. The collegium recommended his transfer to the High Court for the State of Telangana.
These decisions were made “in the interests of the better administration of justice.” The collegium’s resolutions reflect the consideration of individual requests while ensuring the efficient functioning of the judiciary.
