Stone Pelting Incident on Rourkela-Puri Vande Bharat Express
The East Coast Railway (ECoR) reported an unfortunate incident of stone-pelting on the Rourkela-Puri Vande Bharat Express. The incident occurred between Meramandali and Budhapank stations on the Dhenkanal-Angul railway section. A windowpane of an executive class coach was damaged due to this act of vandalism.
No Casualties, Minor Delay in Train Schedule
Fortunately, there were no injuries reported from the incident. Despite the disruption, the train managed to reach its destination, Puri, with a delay of only 13 minutes. The incident was promptly reported by an official of the Railway Protection Force (RPF).
Security Measures and Investigation
The security wing of the ECoR has taken the matter seriously and has heightened alertness among the Railway Protection Force and the Government Railway Police. Local police have also been informed and are involved in the investigation. Efforts are underway to identify and take strict action against the perpetrators.
Awareness Drives to Prevent Similar Incidents
The ECoR is actively conducting awareness drives, especially in areas close to railway tracks, to educate the public about the dangers and consequences of throwing stones at trains. This incident is among several others where Vande Bharat Express trains have been targeted across the country.
The railway authorities are committed to ensuring the safety of passengers and maintaining the integrity of the railway infrastructure. The quick response and ongoing efforts to find the culprits reflect their dedication to addressing such incidents with seriousness.
