Stock Markets Surge: Nifty and Sensex Hit Record Highs

The NSE Nifty marked a historic high of 21,602.50, climbing approximately 0.8% or 160 points, whereas the S&P BSE Sensex surged by 0.75%, equating to 525 points, closing at 71,862.09.

The Sensex’s previous day’s close was 71,336.80 after hitting a peak of 71,471.29 on Tuesday, displaying an upward movement of 229.80 points or 0.32%.

In a bullish mood, the market saw 24 companies in the green, while only six were in the red at the Sensex, indicating a positive sentiment.

The broader Nifty also surged, advancing by 91.95 points or 0.43% to 21,441.35. Among its constituents, 41 closed in the green, while nine ended with losses.

Meanwhile, in the US, stocks continued their ascent on Tuesday, with Wall Street gearing up for a relatively quiet, holiday-shortened trading week.

The S&P 500 climbed 0.4%, approaching its all-time high set almost two years ago, riding an eight-week winning streak, its longest since 2017.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average and the Nasdaq composite also experienced gains, with the S&P 500 ending at 4,774.75 (up by 20.12 points), the Dow at 37,545.33 (gaining 159.36 points), and the Nasdaq at 15,074.57 (adding 81.60 points).

As the year 2024 approaches its end, the S&P 500 has surged by over 24%, while the Nasdaq has seen a remarkable 44% increase throughout the year.

Major European and certain Asian markets remained closed on Tuesday, contributing to the overall quieter market environment during this holiday period.
