Sopore Police Bust Arms Hideout, Two arrested
In Sopore, a town in north Kashmir, law enforcement authorities successfully uncovered a concealed concrete hideout, resulting in the seizure of arms and ammunition. Two individuals engaged in subversive activities were apprehended during the operation.
According to information relayed by an official, the breakthrough occurred during the investigation of FIR No. 370/2023 at Police Station Sopore. Certain individuals, summoned for questioning as part of the inquiry, provided crucial information leading to the discovery.
Collaborating with the Army and CRPF, Sopore Police conducted a search at the residence of Ab Rashid Najar in Tarzoo, Sopore. The search revealed a secret concrete hideout within Najar’s house, containing a variety of arms and ammunition, including improvised explosive devices (IEDs), a pistol, a pistol magazine, live ammunition, and other incriminating electronic devices.
Subsequently, Ab Rashid Najar was promptly arrested. During interrogation, Najar disclosed the involvement of another individual, Ab Jameel Larah, from Sopore, in similar subversive activities. Joint teams from Sopore police, the Army, and CRPF conducted a search at Larah’s residence, leading to the discovery of additional arms and ammunition, such as a pistol, a pistol magazine, pistol rounds, and other incriminating electronic devices and documents.
The official confirmed the arrest of both accused individuals, emphasizing that the investigation is currently underway to unravel further details of the case.
