Sixth Victim Succumbs to Injuries in Kerala’s Kalamassery Blast
The tragic Kalamassery blast in Kerala has claimed its sixth victim, with the death of 24-year-old Praveen, who succumbed to burn injuries. This incident marks a continued escalation in the severity of the blast’s impact.
Details of the Victim
Praveen, hailing from Malayattoor, was undergoing treatment in a private hospital in a critical condition. He is the latest casualty in this devastating incident, following the earlier deaths of his mother, Sally, and sister, Libina.
Judicial Developments
In a recent development, the Kerala Court remanded the bomb blast accused, Dominic Martin, to judicial custody until November 29. Martin, arrested in connection with the Kalamassery blasts, was produced in court on Wednesday without seeking any legal assistance, despite the court’s offer for legal aid.
Investigation Progress
As part of the ongoing investigation, police recreated the scene at Martin’s residence in Athani, Ernakulam, to gather more evidence. The Kerala Police have identified the blast as being caused by a remote-controlled Improvised Explosive Device (IED).
Background of the Blast
The blasts occurred at the Zamra International Convention Centre in Kalamassery, where over 2,000 followers of Jehovah’s Witnesses, a Christian sect, had assembled for a prayer meeting. Martin, who claimed responsibility for the blasts in a self-made confession video on Facebook, was subsequently arrested by the Kochi Police.
The Kalamassery blast has not only resulted in loss of life but also raised concerns regarding public safety and the need for vigilant security measures. The ongoing investigation seeks to unravel the full extent of this tragic event and bring those responsible to justice.
