Indian benchmark indices closed in the green for the fourth consecutive session on Wednesday, driven by companies reporting mixed Q4 results. However, gains were tempered by the mixed performance of global peers.

The Sensex opened higher at 73,957.57, touching an intraday high of 74,121.61 before paring some gains to close up 114.49 points, or 0.16%, at 73,852.94. Similarly, the Nifty 50 opened higher at 22,421.55, reaching a high of 22,476.45 during the day and closing up 34.40 points, or 0.15%, at 22,402.40.

While 13 of the 30 stocks on the BSE Sensex ended in the red, the broader market outperformed, with the BSE SmallCap gaining 0.79% and the BSE MidCap closing up 0.92%. All sectoral indices, except IT, Media, PSU Bank, and Auto, ended in the green, with the Metal index leading the gains, up 2.69% by close.
