Senior NC-Leader Mubarak-Gul Slams Government for Inaction on Rising Road Accidents in J-k
Senior NC leader Mubarak Gul, former Speaker of the J&K Legislative Assembly, criticized the government on Monday for neglecting to address the increasing road accidents in Jammu and Kashmir. During discussions with party colleagues at Sher-e-Kashmir Bhawan, Gul highlighted the LG-led administration’s indifference to the escalating loss of lives in road accidents.
Deeply concerned about the recent Assar Doda incident, where 39 lives were lost and 17 suffered severe injuries, Gul emphasized the government’s failure to implement recommendations from a committee formed during his tenure. Despite submitting a detailed report, the government has yet to act, resulting in numerous casualties and immense suffering for victims’ families.

Gul urged the government to wake up and promptly implement the committee’s recommendations to prevent frequent accidents in hilly areas. He also called for a thorough investigation into the Doda accident, emphasizing accountability for those responsible. Rattan Lal Gupta, Provincial President JKNC Jammu, expressed serious doubts about the effectiveness of the Back to Village programs, labeling them a wasteful exercise that fails to address raised issues.
Gupta criticized the government’s celebration of Cooperative Week, calling it hypocritical after abolishing the previous one, and highlighted the vital role cooperative efforts played in the farming sector.Gupta accused the government of misleading the public with rhetoric, emphasizing the failure to support crucial movements in the region.
Despite celebrating Cooperative Week, the government’s actions contradicted their proclaimed commitment to the cause. The Provincial President affirmed the National Conference’s dedication to safeguarding the interests of Jammu and Kashmir’s people, pledging tireless efforts to address public grievances.
