Rs 487 Crore Allocated for Clean Water Access in Bandipora
The administration in North Kashmir’s Bandipora district has taken a significant step towards ensuring clean drinking water access for all residents by allocating a substantial budget of Rs 487 crore until 2024 to achieve this goal.
An official informed the news agency KNO that out of the 224 planned works under various schemes, 223 have already been tendered, with letters of intent issued for all projects.
Among these initiatives, 27 have been successfully completed, providing piped water connections to 14,000 households. Additionally, 60 filtration plant structures and 90 service reservoirs are under construction as part of this mission.
“Currently, 35,873 Functional Household Tap Connections (FHTC) have been provided, and efforts are underway to reach the target of 47,358 FHTCs,” the official said.
He mentioned that the response rate for the tendered works is an impressive 98.66 percent, with work already commenced on 220 projects.
“A significant amount of Rs 487.26 crore is being invested to ensure that every resident in the district has access to clean drinking water,” the official added. (KNO)
