A retired Indian Police Service (IPS) officer, Rajesh Kumar, faced a shocking turn of events as he was caught engaging in malpractice during his first semester LLB examination at Lucknow’s Khwaja Moinuddin Chisti Language University (KMCLU).

The retired officer’s suspicious behavior prompted closer scrutiny, revealing pre-written notes, a clear breach of examination regulations. Subsequently, his answer sheet was confiscated and sealed, initiating formal proceedings against him.
The case swiftly moved to the attention of the Unfair Means (UFM) Committee, tasked with investigating cases of academic dishonesty and proposing suitable penalties. Despite the severity of the allegations, Kumar was permitted to continue the examination using a new answer sheet, ensuring his right to complete the test while the investigation proceeds.
KMCLU remains resolute in its commitment to upholding academic integrity, standing firm with a zero-tolerance policy against cheating.
The university’s introduction of a three-year LLB course marks a critical juncture, underscoring its determination to maintain the highest ethical standards, treating the retired officer’s case with uncompromising scrutiny.
Notably, this incident isn’t the first involving an IPS officer entangled in a cheating scandal. A similar case surfaced in 2011, highlighting the enduring challenge of combatting academic dishonesty across various educational levels.
