Rajnath Singh Vows Serious Action after Drone Attack; Commissions INS Imphal to Bolster Naval Power
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh addressed the recent drone attack on a ship in the Arabian Sea with utmost seriousness during his Mumbai visit on Tuesday. Emphasizing India’s growing economic and strategic influence, Singh stated that the government would diligently track down and confront the perpetrators behind the strike on ‘MV Chem Pluto’ and an earlier attack on ‘MV Sai Baba’ in the Red Sea. He affirmed that increased surveillance by the Indian Navy was in progress to ensure justice prevails, even if it requires probing the seabed to trace the culprits.
Highlighting India’s role as a security provider in the Indian Ocean Region, Singh assured efforts to elevate maritime trade and security to unprecedented heights. He pledged collaborative efforts with friendly nations to safeguard Sea Lanes for seamless maritime commerce.
Singh presided over the commissioning of INS Imphal at the Naval Dockyard, attended by dignitaries including Chief of Naval Staff R Hari Kumar and Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde. Singh praised INS Imphal’s significance, representing the Northeast’s glory and unity across regions.
He underscored the ‘Make in India’ initiative, highlighting INS Imphal’s conception, design, and construction entirely within India. Singh commended the contributions of various entities, including Brahmos Aerospace, Larsen and Toubro (L&T), Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL), Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), start-ups, and MSMEs, in crafting INS Imphal.
Singh acknowledged Prime Minister Modi’s recognition of the Navy’s importance, accentuating its equal stature alongside other armed forces. He expressed confidence that INS Imphal would fortify India’s maritime prowess and reinforce the principle, ‘Jalmev Yasya, Balmev Tasya’ (He who rules over the seas is all powerful), in the Indo-Pacific region.
The commissioning of INS Imphal stands as a testament to India’s commitment to fortify its naval strength and secure its maritime interests in the region.
