    Rainfall was observed in parts of Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday, with more rain expected today and tomorrow as per the local meteorological department’s forecast. Despite the cloud cover, the night temperatures saw an increase, but daytime temperatures are expected to drop.

    According to a meteorological department official, both Srinagar and Jammu received light rainfall. Qazigund and Gulmarg recorded 0.4mm and 0.2mm of rainfall respectively by 0830 hours today.

    The weather department has predicted widespread light to moderate rain and thunderstorms on April 18 and 19. The official stated that during this period, most places will experience cloudy weather with occasional light to moderate rain, and higher altitude areas may see light snow. Thunderstorms are likely from the evening of April 18 to late evening or night on April 19.

    Over the weekend, light rain is expected in some areas. From April 21-25, generally dry weather is anticipated, but isolated afternoon thundershowers may occur. From April 26-27, cloudy weather with light rain and thunder is forecasted for many places.

    In terms of temperatures, Srinagar’s minimum temperature was 12.5°C, which is 4.6°C above normal for this time of the year. Qazigund recorded 9.6°C, Pahalgam 7.2°C, Kokernag 11.2°C, Kupwara 10.9°C, and Gulmarg 3.2°C. These temperatures were all above normal. Jammu’s minimum temperature was 21.4°C, 1.5°C above normal. Additionally, Banihal recorded 13.2°C, Batote 14.3°C, and Bhaderwah 11.8°C.
