    The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted significant weather changes in the southern parts of India. A low-pressure system is expected to develop over the Southeast Bay of Bengal around November 14 and potentially intensify into a depression by November 16.

    Regions Anticipating Heavy Rainfall

    The IMD anticipates heavy rainfall in various southern regions:

    • Southeastern Peninsular India is expected to receive heavy rainfall until November 15.
    • Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Kerala, coastal Andhra Pradesh, and Rayalseema are likely to experience light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorms on November 14 and 15.
    • The coastal areas of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal may face isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall on November 13 and 14.
    • Specific districts like Cuddalore, Villupuram, Chengalpattu, and Kancheepuram in Tamil Nadu, along with Puducherry, are expected to witness heavier showers.

    Educational Institutions Closure

    In response to the forecast, the Tamil Nadu government has declared a holiday on November 14 for educational institutions, including professional colleges, in Mayiladuthurai District.

    Extended Forecast

    • The IMD has also predicted light to moderate rainfall in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands over the next five days, with thunderstorms expected on November 14.
    • Coastal areas of West Bengal and Odisha might experience heavy rainfall on November 16.
    • Northeastern states including Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura are expected to receive heavy rainfall on November 17 and 18.

    Residents in these regions are advised to stay updated with the latest weather forecasts and take necessary precautions. The government and local authorities are likely to issue further directives and safety measures in response to the evolving weather conditions.
