Rahul Gandhi Yatra in Jharkhand Spotlights Tribal Rights and Honors Freedom Fighters
The ‘Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra’ led by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi resumed from Jharkhand’s Ramgarh district on Monday, marking the fourth day of his procession through the state. Following an overnight stay at Sidhu-Kanhu ground in the district, the yatra recommenced from Mahatma Gandhi Chowk in the morning. It is set to proceed to Chutupalu Valley, where Rahul Gandhi will pay homage to freedom fighters Saheed Sheikh Bhikhari and Tikait Umaro Singh, as mentioned by state Congress spokesperson Rajiv Ranjan.
Upon reaching Irba in Ranchi district, Rahul Gandhi is slated to engage with weavers at the Indira Gandhi Handloom Process ground. Later in the day, the yatra will make its way to Ranchi’s Shaheed Ground, where the Congress MP is scheduled to address a public rally.
During his visit on Sunday, Mr. Gandhi emphasized his party’s commitment to tribal rights concerning ‘Jal-Jungle-Jamin’ (water, forest, and land resources). The yatra coincides with the JMM-led alliance government’s trust vote in the assembly on Monday. The Congress is a key member of this alliance. Rahul Gandhi is scheduled for an overnight stay in Khunti district on Monday, with the yatra covering a total distance of 804 km across 13 districts in the state over eight days in two phases.
The ‘Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra,’ which commenced in Manipur on January 14, aims to cover 6,713 km over 67 days, traversing 110 districts in 15 states before concluding in Mumbai on March 20.
