Rahul Gandhi Expresses Confidence in Congress Victory in Maharashtra and Nationwide Elections
Addressing the ‘Hain Taiyyar Hum’ rally in Maharashtra’s Nagpur, Rahul Gandhi exuded confidence in the Congress party’s prospects, affirming their victory in Maharashtra and nationwide elections. He emphasized the ideological struggle behind the freedom movement and the party’s role in combating oppression.
Gandhi highlighted the multifaceted freedom struggle, noting that it wasn’t just against the British but also against the monarchy that had aligned with colonial powers. He stressed how Congress fought against this partnership, advocating for the rights of the Indian populace.
Enumerating the pre-independence era’s challenges, Gandhi spotlighted the plight of the people under the rule of 600 kings who often disregarded their rights. He underscored the significance of the Constitution, attributing its creation to Ambedkar, Gandhi, and Nehru’s tireless efforts, all done by the Congress.
Asserting the party’s ideological stance, Gandhi emphasized that the nation’s governance should be in the hands of the people, not the monarchy. He advocated for the empowerment of citizens, outlining their crucial role in the freedom struggle and highlighting Congress’s opposition to the monarchy’s alliance with the British.
Acknowledging the special place of Maharashtra in the Congress legacy, Gandhi commended the people’s understanding and support for the party’s ideology without needing explicit explanations.
Earlier in the day, Rahul Gandhi underscored the ongoing ideological battle within the country during the rally, initiating the Congress’s campaign for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections on the party’s 139th Foundation Day celebration.
