Punjab Police Sting Operation Nets 10 Arrests and 22 Seized Weapons
India witnessed a significant breakthrough in its fight against illegal arms trafficking as the Punjab Police conducted a successful sting operation, leading to the apprehension of 10 individuals and the recovery of 22 illicit weapons. Notably, among those detained is a weapon manufacturer based in Madhya Pradesh, a crucial link in dismantling a widespread inter-state arms smuggling network.
Strategic Operation Led by Punjab Police
The operation was a carefully orchestrated initiative rather than a random raid. Directed by Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav, the Punjab Police executed a methodical plan that targeted and apprehended two weapon supply gangs. The successful operation, meticulously planned and executed, led to the capture of a substantial cache of illegal arms. DGP Yadav shared the news of the operation’s success on social media, highlighting the accomplishment and ongoing investigative efforts.
Arrests and Weapon Seizures
One of the arrested key operatives confessed to procuring pistols from Madhya Pradesh and distributing them in Punjab. This crucial arrest, along with the detention of nine others, enabled law enforcement to unravel the inter-state arms smuggling ring. Additionally, the sting operation yielded the recovery of 22 illicit weapons, further solidifying the impact and success of the operation in curbing illegal arms trade.
