Punjab Police Conducts ‘OPS Seal-V’ Operation to Curb Illicit Activities
In a concerted effort to curb drug trafficking, liquor smuggling, and monitor the movements of gangsters and anti-social elements, the Punjab Police executed a special operation named ‘OPS Seal-V.’ The operation, directed by the Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab Gaurav Yadav, focused on checking all vehicles entering or exiting the border state of Punjab.
Key Highlights:
- Operation Scope: ‘OPS Seal-V’ was conducted from 8 am to 2 pm across 131 entry/exit points in 10 border districts, including Pathankot, Sri Muktsar Sahib, Fazilka, Ropar, SAS Nagar, Patiala, Sangrur, Mansa, Hoshiarpur, and Bathinda.
- Coordination: Special DGP Law and Order Arpit Shukla directed senior police officials in Bathinda, Patiala, and Rupnagar Ranges, along with IGsP Faridkot Range and DIsG Border, Jalandhar, and Ferozepur Ranges, to coordinate with their counterparts in the bordering states.
- Nakabandi Operation: Over 1200 police personnel were mobilized to set up strong ‘nakas’ at strategic locations under the supervision of inspectors/DSPs to conduct thorough checks on vehicles and individuals.
- Vehicular Checks: A total of 3760 vehicles entering or exiting the state were checked, resulting in 271 challans and 46 impoundments. Additionally, 23 FIRs were registered, leading to the arrest of 26 individuals.
- Public Interaction: Police personnel were instructed to deal with commuters in a friendly and polite manner to minimize inconvenience to the general public during the operation.
- Security Measures: The operation aimed to demonstrate a strong police presence in the field, instill fear among anti-social elements, and assure the safety and security of the public.
