
Punjab Police Busts LeT Terror Module, Two J&K Residents arrested . Pic/daily excelsior
On Saturday, the Punjab Police announced a significant achievement in their efforts to combat terrorism, as they successfully dismantled a Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terror cell by apprehending two individuals from the region of Jammu and Kashmir. The operation yielded a substantial cache of dangerous items, including two improvised explosive devices, two hand grenades, a firearm, two ammunition magazines, 24 rounds of ammunition, a timing mechanism, eight detonators, and four batteries, all of which were confiscated by law enforcement.
The operation was a collaborative endeavor, carried out jointly by the State Special Operation Cell in Amritsar and a central agency, as confirmed by Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav. The Punjab Police chief, in a statement posted on the department’s official platform, heralded this achievement as a major breakthrough in the ongoing fight against terrorism.
Director General Yadav revealed that the identified mastermind behind this LeT module was Firdaus Ahmed Bhat, an active member of the Lashkar-e-Taiba. This successful operation and the subsequent arrests of the two individuals were deemed a significant blow to the efforts of this terror module, which had been attempting to disrupt the peace and stability of the Punjab region.
