Punjab CM Maryam Consoles Chinese Consul After Attack
In the wake of the tragic terrorist attack in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Shangla district, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz extended her condolences to the Chinese Consul General Zhao Shiren. The attack, which targeted a convoy of foreign nationals en route from Islamabad to their camp in Dasu, Shangla, resulted in the loss of lives of five Chinese nationals and their Pakistani driver.

During her visit to the Chinese Consulate in Lahore, CM Maryam Nawaz conveyed heartfelt sympathies to the families of the deceased Chinese citizens. She underscored Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to bolstering collaboration and cooperation with China across various sectors. Maryam Nawaz emphasized the enduring bond between Pakistan and China, denouncing the cowardly attack as a malicious attempt to disrupt Pakistan’s progress and prosperity.
CM Maryam Nawaz reiterated Pakistan’s solidarity with China, stating, “Pakistan and China are exemplary friends, and their everlasting friendship cannot be undermined through cowardly actions.” She emphasized that the Pakistani nation mourns alongside the affected Chinese families, pledging comprehensive security measures to protect Chinese nationals working in Punjab.
“We equally share the grief of the affected Chinese families. We are undertaking all possible measures to safeguard the Chinese nationals working in Punjab. We would strictly ensure the implementation policy to provide foolproof security to our Chinese brothers,” she affirmed.

The Consul General, Zhao Shiren, expressed gratitude for CM Maryam Nawaz’s visit and her condolences on the loss of Chinese nationals’ lives. Senior Provincial Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb, Former Senator Parvez Rashid, Chief Secretary, Secretary Home, IGP, and other concerned officers also attended the meeting, underscoring the collective commitment to ensuring the safety and security of Chinese nationals in Pakistan.
