In a continued effort to eliminate drug-related activities, Pulwama Police have successfully arrested a drug peddler and seized illegal substances and cash. The incident occurred at a checkpoint in Tengpona, Pulwama, where officers from the local police station stopped a suspicious individual.

The suspect, identified as Hilal Ahmad Sheikh, son of Ghulam Qadir Sheikh, and a resident of Tengpona, was found with a heroin-like substance weighing 5.8 grams. In addition to the contraband, cash amounting to Rs 14,000 was also recovered from his possession.

Following his arrest, Sheikh was taken into custody at the Pulwama Police Station, where he remains for further questioning.

A spokesperson for the Pulwama Police confirmed the incident, stating that an official case has been registered under FIR No. 199/2024. “The investigation is now underway, and we are committed to following up on every lead to ensure that justice is served,” the spokesperson said.

Authorities are urging the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious drug-related activities to the nearest police station or by dialing 112. Cooperation between the police and the public is seen as crucial in the fight against the growing menace of drugs in the region.

The police reassured community members that they will continue to take strong legal action against those involved in drug crimes.
