President Droupadi Murmu Visits Leh for Ladakh Foundation Day Celebrations
President Droupadi Murmu embarked on a significant two-day visit to Leh, the Union Territory, where she will participate in the Foundation Day celebrations of Ladakh. Her visit holds special importance, as Ladakh marks its Foundation Day on October 31, commemorating its establishment as a Union Territory of India on October 31, 2019.
Celebrating Ladakh Foundation Day
Notably, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had declared Ladakh as a Union Territory, and now, the people of Ladakh are joyously celebrating Ladakh Foundation Day. BJP MP Jamyang Tsering Namgyal underscored the significance of this occasion, highlighting that President Murmu’s visit aligns with the spirit of Ladakh’s special day.
Engaging with Troops at Siachen Base Camp
As part of her visit, President Murmu will visit the Siachen Base Camp on November 1. During this visit, she will have the opportunity to interact with the dedicated troops stationed in one of the world’s most challenging and high-altitude regions. Their service in these extreme conditions is both commendable and critical to India’s national security.
Civic Reception and Interactions with Local Communities
On the same day, a civic reception will be held in President Murmu’s honor at Leh, where she will be warmly welcomed by the local community. Additionally, the President is scheduled to engage with members of Self-Help Groups (SHGs) and the local tribal population. These interactions highlight the commitment to empowering local communities and recognizing their vital role in the region’s development.
