In the aftermath of tax raids in Odisha and Jharkhand that led to the seizure of crores of rupees from Congress MP Dhiraj Prasad Sahu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi took a dig at the opposition on the corruption issue. In a post on X, PM Modi asserted that it is “Modi’s guarantee” that every penny looted from the people will have to be returned.
The post also included a news report where the Income Tax department recovered Rs 200 crore in cash from various locations linked to Dhiraj Prasad Sahu. PM Modi emphasized the need for the public to scrutinize the pile of currency notes seized and juxtapose it with the purported honesty in the speeches of opposition leaders.
The Income Tax department conducted raids, recovering more than Rs 200 crore cash from the residences of Congress Rajya Sabha MP Dhiraj Prasad Sahu in Jharkhand and Odisha. The raids targeted Boudh Distilleries Private Limited (BDPL) in Odisha and Jharkhand, unfolding over two consecutive days.
