
PM Modi Chairs PRAGATI Meeting to Review Key Projects Across Seven States
Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired the 43rd edition of the PRAGATI meeting, a multi-modal platform for Pro-Active Governance and Timely Implementation, to assess the progress of eight crucial projects spanning seven states, with a cumulative worth of around Rs 31,000 crore.
Project Categories and State Involvement
The reviewed projects encompassed diverse sectors, including water supply, irrigation, national highways, connectivity, and rail and metro rail connectivity. They were distributed across the states of Bihar, Jharkhand, Haryana, Odisha, West Bengal, Gujarat, and Maharashtra.
PM Emphasizes Technology Integration
During the meeting, Prime Minister Modi highlighted the potential of technology in project planning and implementation. He pointed out that the PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan Portal, along with technologies like satellite imagery, can play a crucial role in addressing issues related to project location and land requirements.He encouraged all stakeholders involved in projects within densely populated urban areas to designate nodal officers and establish teams to enhance coordination.
Visits to Showcase Successful Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Work
For irrigation projects, the Prime Minister suggested organizing visits to areas where successful rehabilitation and reconstruction work has been carried out. Showcasing the transformational impact of such projects can serve as motivation for stakeholders to expedite project execution.
Focus on Mobile Towers and 4G Coverage
During the PRAGATI meeting, Prime Minister Modi also reviewed the progress of “Mobile Towers and 4G Coverage under USOF Projects.” Under the Universal Service Obligation Fund (USOF), the goal is to provide mobile connectivity to 33,573 villages with the installation of 24,149 mobile towers, ensuring comprehensive coverage.Modi urged officials to expedite the installation of mobile towers in all uncovered villages within the current financial year and recommended holding regular meetings with stakeholders to ensure the saturation of mobile coverage in even the remotest areas.
