Pakistan Train Blast: 24 Killed, Baloch Liberation Army Claims Responsibility for Attack
NEW DELHI, MAY 24, 2026 [VoM News]: A powerful bomb blast struck Pakistan’s Balochistan province on Sunday, killing at least 24 people.
As per details available with VoM News, the powerful bomb blast targeted a passenger train carrying military personnel onboard. Details said that an explosives-laden vehicle rammed into the passenger train near a railway track in the Quetta area of Balochistan province, triggering a derailment and flames within a short span of time.
Multiple coaches overturned and fire broke out immediately after the blast.
Reports revealed that the train was carrying personnel travelling home on the auspicious occasion of Eid-ul-Adha.
The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) has claimed responsibility for the attack, calling it a suicide operation carried out by its Majeed Brigade unit.
The Baloch Liberation Army claimed that the train was carrying occupying forces and was targeted by its brigade.
Meanwhile, Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif condemned the attack and called it a cowardly act of terrorism.
On the other hand, security forces have cordoned off the area and an investigation has been initiated.
Pakistan’s Balochistan province has witnessed a separatist insurgency led by local Baloch groups.
China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) projects, infrastructure and key sites are being frequently targeted by ethnic Baloch groups.
Pakistan’s military chief and self-styled Field Marshal Asim Munir, during a media interaction, alleged that India harbours terrorism in Balochistan, a claim denied by India. Meanwhile, India has repeatedly accused Pakistan of using terrorism as a state policy.
