Pakistan Security Forces Conduct 18736 Operations, Neutralize Hundreds of Terrorists in 2023
Pakistan’s security forces undertook around 18,736 intelligence-based operations (IBOs) in 2023, yielding significant results by eliminating 566 terrorists and apprehending 5,161 others. These operations were pivotal in safeguarding the nation’s peace and security, serving as effective measures against terrorism while fortifying national defense, reported ARY News.
The report underscored that recent terrorist incidents in Pakistan were linked to sanctuaries in Afghanistan, accentuating the ongoing tensions between the two nations. Noteworthy was the shift in allegiances within the Baloch National Army (BNA), as key figures like Gulzar Imam Shambe and Sarfaraz Bengalzai renounced terrorism, opting to reintegrate into the national mainstream—a testament to the impact of these security operations.
Detailing the specifics, Balochistan saw 15,063 IBOs resulting in the elimination of 109 terrorists, while Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) witnessed 1,942 operations, leading to the neutralization of 447 terrorists. Additionally, 190 operations were conducted in Punjab, 14 in Gilgit-Baltistan, and 1,987 in Sindh, resulting in the elimination of 10 terrorists during these missions.
Tragically, the report highlighted the loss of more than 1,000 lives, including over 260 officers and soldiers of the Pakistan Army, due to various terrorist attacks throughout the year. Despite these grim challenges, Pakistan’s security forces reaffirmed their unwavering commitment to combat terrorism, steadfastly striving to pave the way for a future marked by peace and stability in the nation.
