In a relentless effort to combat terrorism, Northern Army Commander Lieutenant General Upendra Dwivedi took charge on Saturday to assess the ongoing operational situation near the site of a fierce gunfight in Jammu and Kashmir’s Anantnag district. The encounter, now spanning four days, has witnessed a significant deployment of cutting-edge technology and precision firepower. Ground commanders provided crucial insights into the high-intensity operations, underscoring the use of sophisticated equipment for surveillance and firepower delivery.
Precision and High-Tech Warfare Unleashed
The battlefield dynamics have evolved significantly in this protracted engagement. Hi-tech equipment is now integral, contributing to enhanced surveillance capabilities and the precise delivery of firepower. The forces have adopted a surgical approach, emphasizing precision fire to minimize collateral damage and maximize the impact on hostile elements.
Persistent Efforts in the Kokernag Forest Area
The operation’s central objective is to rid the dense forest area in Anantnag of terrorists. This challenging mission has entered its fourth day, illustrating the unwavering commitment of the security forces. To augment their capabilities, drones and helicopters have been mobilized, bolstering the efforts to track and neutralize the ultras responsible for the tragic encounter that claimed the lives of four security personnel.

During the encounter on Wednesday, Colonel Manpreet Singh, Commanding Officer of the 19 Rashtriya Rifles, Major Ashish Dhonchak, Deputy Superintendent of Jammu and Kashmir Police Humayun Bhat, and a valiant soldier paid the ultimate price while defending the nation. Their unwavering dedication and sacrifice serve as a poignant reminder of the challenges faced by our security forces in the region.
