Nokia Unveils Future Tech at India Mobile Congress: 6G and Beyond
At the 2023 India Mobile Congress held in New Delhi, Nokia has taken center stage with a spectacular display of its latest advancements in telecommunications technology. The Finnish telecommunications giant showcased a range of cutting-edge technologies, from 6G-enabled radar-like sensing to advanced multimedia solutions. This year’s forum saw Nokia pushing the boundaries of what’s possible, demonstrating not just advancements in network technology but also in how these technologies can revolutionize industries and everyday life.
Revolutionizing Awareness with 6G Sensing Technology
A standout innovation presented by Nokia was their new 6G sensing technology. This technology aims to enhance situational awareness by allowing users to perceive their surroundings in a revolutionary way. Imagine being able to see around corners or interact with objects remotely without physical contact. This technology, resembling radar, can detect people, objects, and their movements, all while maintaining strict user privacy. Nokia’s demonstration highlighted the potential of 6G in transforming how we interact with the world around us.
Innovations in Transport and Industrial Efficiency
Nokia’s showcase extended to the transportation sector, where they unveiled a private wireless network developed for the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) Delhi to Meerut Rapid Rail Transit System (RRTS), in collaboration with Alstom. This network, the first of its kind, integrates LTE/4.9G technology with European Train Control System (ETCS) Level 2 Signalling, enabling real-time monitoring of train locations and movements. Additionally, Nokia’s Real-time eXtended Reality Multimedia (RXRM) software promises to enhance safety and productivity in industrial settings by providing 360-degree video and audio capture capabilities.

Enhancing Network Performance and Security
Nokia also introduced technologies aimed at boosting network performance and security. The SteadEband technology, featuring a stabilised antenna, increases E-band link distances by up to 50%, overcoming challenges like tower vibrations and thermal material movements. Meanwhile, the DeepField Defender technology offers advanced protection against distributed denial of service (DDoS) attacks, promising greater scalability, more precise control, and cost-effectiveness.
Embracing the Metaverse for Smarter Factories
In a leap towards the future, Nokia showcased a metaverse-based intelligent factory management system. This system utilizes an array of developing technologies such as AI and ML, XR, blockchain, and decentralized networks. Designed to optimize factory operations, this system aims to enhance efficiency, interactivity, and reduce errors and defects. Nokia’s vision of integrating advanced digital technologies into manufacturing heralds a new era of smart, interconnected factory environments.
