NIA Takes Charge of 324 Cases in 5 Years, Home Ministry Cites Expertise in Terror Probes
In the past five years, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has been entrusted with 324 cases by the Central government, as revealed by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) during a session in the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday.
Nityanand Rai, the Union Minister of State for Home, provided this information in response to a written query from a member of the Rajya Sabha. The Minister clarified that the 324 cases were transferred to the NIA during the period from December 1, 2018, to November 30, 2023.
The Ministry of Home Affairs justified the transfer of these cases to the NIA by citing the agency’s expertise in investigating terror-related incidents throughout the country and various other matters within its jurisdiction. The decision to hand over these cases was based on a careful consideration of their gravity.
