NEET-PG Exam Rescheduled to July 7 in Response to Regulatory Changes
The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences has announced a rescheduling of the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test-Postgraduate (NEET-PG) examination to July 7 this year. This decision was made in response to a letter from the National Medical Commission (NMC) dated January 3, 2024, and it supersedes the earlier scheduled date of March 3. The new eligibility cut-off date for the exam has been set as August 15.
The rescheduling is in alignment with the recently introduced “Post-Graduate Medical Education Regulations, 2023.” According to these regulations, the NEET-PG exam will continue to be in effect until the proposed National Exit Test (NExT) becomes operational for postgraduate admission.
It’s important to note that the NEET-PG examination serves as the exclusive entrance examination for MD/MS and PG diploma courses under the National Medical Commission Act, 2019. This adjustment in the schedule aims to accommodate the changing landscape in medical education regulations and ensure a smooth transition to the upcoming National Exit Test.
