    In a significant development, Assam Rifles, under the leadership of Inspector General Assam Rifles (East), achieved another milestone in its relentless battle against smuggling activities. On October 4, in the general area of Mualkawi, Champhai, a joint operation by Assam Rifles and Customs Preventive Force, Champhai, resulted in the arrest of a Myanmar woman and the recovery of 149 grams of heroin valued at Rs 1.04 crore.

    The operation, conducted based on specific information, reflects the continued commitment of Assam Rifles in curbing the illicit trade of narcotics and contraband items in the region. The entire cache of heroin, with an estimated worth of Rs 1,04,30,000, along with the apprehended suspect, has been handed over to Customs Preventive Force, Champhai, for further legal proceedings.

    Addressing the Menace of Contraband Smuggling

    The smuggling of contraband items remains a grave concern for the state of Mizoram and India at large. Assam Rifles, often referred to as the ‘Sentinels of Northeast,’ has redoubled its efforts to not only combat illegal smuggling but also to apprehend the masterminds behind these criminal enterprises in Mizoram.
