Lieutenant General Manjinder Singh has been appointed as the 24th General Officer Commanding in Chief of the Army Training Command, headquartered in Shimla. He takes over the reins following the retirement of Lieutenant General Surinder Singh Mahal. Lt Gen Manjinder Singh, an esteemed alumnus of Sainik School Kapurthala, the National Defence Academy (NDA), and the Indian Military Academy (IMA), brings a wealth of experience to his new role. Commissioned into the 19 MADRAS regiment on December 20, 1986, he has served in various challenging roles, including commanding a battalion in counter-insurgency operations in Jammu and Kashmir (J-K), leading an infantry brigade at the Line of Control, and overseeing an infantry division within the Strike Corps. His tenure also includes commanding a corps deployed along the Line of Control in J-K.

Wide-Ranging Experience and Leadership Roles

The General Officer’s career is marked by diverse staff appointments across Corps and Commands, particularly in environments focused on counter-insurgency operations along the Western Front. His instructional roles at the Indian Military Academy and with the Indian Military Training Team in Bhutan further underscore his extensive experience in military training and leadership. He has also attended prestigious courses such as the Defence Services Staff College, the Higher Command Course, and the National Defence College in Thailand.
