LG-Sinha Commemorates Armed Forces Veterans’ Day, Pledges Support for Ex-Servicemen Welfare and Counterterrorism Efforts in Jk
To commemorate Armed Forces Veterans’ Day, Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha paid homage to the courageous martyrs and engaged with Veterans, Veer Naris, and Next of Kins of Armed Forces heroes at Raj Bhawan today.
Expressing profound gratitude, the Lt Governor emphasized the nation’s enduring indebtedness to the soldiers safeguarding the unity, integrity, and sovereignty of the country. He underscored the administration’s unwavering commitment to prioritize the welfare of ex-servicemen.
Over the past four years, Jammu and Kashmir have undergone remarkable transformations, a testament to the dedicated efforts of all. The Lt Governor proudly declared that Jammu Kashmir is progressing on the path of growth and prosperity, noting the highest influx of tourists since Independence.
Highlighting the collaborative efforts of the Police, Army, and CAPFs, the Lt Governor conveyed their success in thwarting neighboring countries’ attempts to disrupt peace in Jammu Kashmir. He asserted that terrorism is on its last legs and expressed confidence in the continued significant contributions of ex-servicemen in the fight against terrorism.
Calling upon citizens, the Lt Governor urged generous contributions to support the well-being of ex-servicemen and Veer Naris. He stressed the collective responsibility and primary duty to ensure that veterans and martyr families lead lives of dignity. The administration, he assured, is committed to providing necessary support, including land for Sainik Colonies in both Kashmir and Jammu regions. Additionally, the Lt Governor pledged to enhance ex-gratia payments as a mark of respect for the brave soldiers.
As part of the event, the Lt Governor extended honors to Veer Naris. The gathering included Lt Gen RK Sharma (Retd.), Dr Mandeep Kumar Bhandari, Principal Secretary to Lt Governor, Brig. Gurmeet Singh Shan (Retd.), Director Sainik Welfare Department, J&K, Brig. Anil Gupta (Retd.), and officials from the Sainik Welfare Department, J&K.
