    Kishtwar, October 4, 2024 – The Inter-Division UT Level Tournament in Kho-Kho (U/17 & U/19) and Volleyball (U/14 Girls) was inaugurated at GHSS Girls Kishtwar, organized by the Department of Youth Services & Sports Kishtwar under the leadership of District Youth Services & Sports Officer, Sh. Jaffer Haider Sheikh.

    This event is conducted under the guidance of Director General Youth Services & Sports J&K, Sh. Rajinder Singh Tara, and Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar, Sh. Rajesh Kumar Shavan (JKAS).

    The opening ceremony was graced by Deputy Commissioner Sh. Rajesh Kumar Shavan, along with officials and dignitaries from the local administration.

    During his address, Sh. Shavan highlighted the role of sports in promoting teamwork, discipline, and unity among young athletes. He commended the efforts of the department and praised the dedication of the participants.

    A cultural program performed by students of GHSS Girls Kishtwar added a vibrant touch to the ceremony, celebrating the region’s rich heritage.

    Sh. Jaffer Haider Sheikh expressed his gratitude to the participants, coaches, and organizing team, emphasizing the department’s mission to nurture rural talent and foster a culture of sportsmanship.

    The tournament, featuring athletes from two divisions, will include competitions in Kho-Kho (U/17 and U/19) and Volleyball (U/14 Girls) over the next few days.

    This event not only showcases the athletic talents of the region but also reinforces Kishtwar’s emerging status as a key center for youth sports in Jammu & Kashmir.
